A Quiz on motion in one direction

An interactive test for Prep 3 on Motion in One Direction.

In this lesson  you have learned that:

Motion

It is change of an object's location (position) as time passes according to the location of another object.

The simplest type of motion is the motion in a straight line in one direction.

(Example: the movement of the train).

Speed

it is the distance moved through a unit time. (OR It’s the rate of change of distance)

The two factors necessary for the description of movement:

1. The distance (d) covered by the moving body.

    2. The time (t) taken by the moving body to cover this distance.

The measuring units of speed are:

Meter/second (m/s)

Kilometer/hour (km/h)

Uniform (regular) speed:

It's the speed by which the object covers equal distances at equal periods of time.

Non-uniform (irregular) speed:

It's the speed by which the object covers unequal distances in equal periods of time

OR It's the speed by which the object covers equal distances in unequal periods of time.

Average speed

It’s the total distance covered by the moving object divided by the total time taken to cover this distance.

Relative speed

It’s the speed of a moving object relative to the observer.
